The Alliance for the Protection of Children’s Rights and Online Safety

Life online has brought many benefits for young people today, with platforms that strengthen communities, celebrate diversity, and provide financial opportunities that are accessible as never before.

Yet, the digital world was not designed with children in mind. Major online platforms are operating under a business model aimed at sustaining our attention to maximize ad dollars. This model has far-reaching unintended consequences that pose indiscriminate risk and harm to all children, across the full range of their rights under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Alliance for Protecting Children’s Rights and Safety Online is advocating for key recommendations to see Canada become a world leader in protecting children’s rights online.
